What We Believe

  • We believe in one God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things. (Genesis 1-2, Job 38-41)

We believe God has eternally existed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: The Trinity. Each member of the Trinity is uniquely personal yet indivisible in substance or essence.

We believe God has revealed Himself to humanity through creation, through His Word, and ultimately through Jesus. (Psalm 19:1, Romans 1:19-20, Hebrews 1:1-4)

  • We believe God’s Word was written by men under the direct, verbal inspiration of the Holy Spirit; it is therefore without error. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

The Word is powerful and effective to change humanity. (Psalm 37:30-31, Psalm 119:11, Hebrews 4:12-13, James 1:21)

The Word is sufficient, and no other source is necessary for disciples to understand God. (Psalm 19:7-14, Psalm 119:105)

The Word is authoritative and must be studied and obeyed by all disciples of Christ. (Romans, 15:4, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

  • We believe humanity was a special creation of God’s, made in His image to fill the earth and to have dominion over it. At the time of Creation, there was no sin and Adam and Eve walked in perfect relationship with God and each other. (Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 3:8)

But this perfection did not last, as Eve and Adam rebelled against God’s command. This brought sin, brokenness, and death into the once perfect world that God had made. Now all of humanity is born into this fallen state of the image of God, slaves to sin and separated from God. And God’s wrath burns against sin. (Genesis 3, Romans 5:12-21, Ephesians 2:1-3)

  • Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, for the glory of God alone.

It is the Holy Spirit who convicts a person’s heart, convincing him that he is a sinner in need of forgiveness, an orphan in need of a Father, a wandering rebel in need of a King. (John 16:8-11)

God’s design is for the message of the Gospel (this Good News of Salvation in Christ) to spread through His church. Each member is to be a partner in this mission of bringing the Gospel to all people in all nations. (Romans 10:14-17)

We believe salvation consists of the Justification, Adoption, Sanctification, and Glorification of a Christian. (Romans 4:23-25, Ephesians 2:4-10, Galatians 4:4-7, 1 Corinthians 15:35-58)

We believe the salvation of a believer is held securely by God, and all Christians will persevere in faith by the power of the Holy Spirit. (John 6:37-40, Romans 8:28-39, Philippians 1:6, 1 John 2:19)

  • We believe baptism is the first command given to a new Christian. It is a symbol of the death and resurrection of Christ and a sign of the spiritual rebirth given to a Christian upon salvation. It is not salvific, but it is also not optional. Baptism, by its definition from the original language, means immersion. So, we practice the baptism of believers by fully immersing them in water. (Acts 2:37-38, Romans 6:1-4, Galatians 3:27)

We believe Jesus commanded His apostles (and the Church thereafter) to regularly take Communion, remembering His work on the Cross. In taking Communion, the church is reminded of the common ground we all share at the foot of the Cross. (Matthew 26:26-28, 1 Corinthians 11:17-34)

  • Marriage was instituted by God before the Fall, and this makes marriage one of God’s good creations. Because it was created by God, He gets to design it as He wills. God’s design for marriage is between one man and one woman who covenant to pursue each other in love forever. God calls husbands to lovingly lead their wives and families and for wives to support and respect their husbands. (Genesis 2:5-25, Ephesians 5:22-33)

The Word consistently refers to children as blessings to their parents and calls parents to be the primary spiritual teachers of their children. The church is to help, support, and supplement parents in the pursuit of discipling their children. We desire children to attend our main service with their parents as early as they are ready, because this gives them the chance to watch their parents sing, pray, give, serve, and study. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Psalm 127:3-5, Psalm 128, Proverbs 17:6, Proverbs 20:7, Matthew 19:13-15, Ephesians 6:1-4)

God has gifted some Christians with singleness. Paul says this gift gives a person the ability to pour more of themselves into ministry and service. We value this gift, just as the Word teaches, and commit to be family for single Christians in every way we can. (1 Corinthians 7:6-7, 32-35)

Widows and Orphans are uniquely called out in the Word as those whom the church should watch over and provide care. We believe that we are called to be family for widows and orphans in every way that we can. (1 Timothy 5:9-16, James 1:27)

  • We believe Christ will return to bring final judgment to the world. All Christians will be glorified in Christ and find final victory over sin and flesh. All those who have not surrendered to Christ’s salvation will be sent to hell for eternal punishment. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

The heavens and the earth will be destroyed in fire and God will create a New Heaven and New Earth as His permanent Kingdom. (2 Peter 3:8-13, Revelation 21:1-8)
